You probably already possess a range hood, so there will already be an electrical cord in place if you plan to install over the range microwave. Shut off electricity to the hood at the point of the breakers. Test for no electricity by turning the hood on. Once that is verified, dismantle the range hood.

Now the electrical wire is exposed, you will use it for the microwave. This is achieved in either of 2 ways. Firstly, you can run the wire from any nearby outlet to the cabinet. Or otherwise, from the breakers, you can run wire to the microwave. This will require access from breakers to beneath the kitchen flooring. Both a 12 wire plus 20 amp breaker will be needed if installing a new circuit. The single junction box must be used.

The junction box must be positioned in the right back corner of the lower cabinet, a hole has to be drilled and cut out in that position. The wire must be passed through the hole to the junction box, secure the junction box and install the receptacle. Turn the power on and verify that it is running.

Now the hard work is completed, you move on to attaching the microwave oven. First you should remove the microwave's wall hanger plate that is attached to back of the appliance. Place the plate against the wall and screw in place; it is sufficient for just one screw to hit a stud. Toggle bolts can be used where no studs are present.

Next the duct work needs to be considered; either recirculate the air by turning the blower fan, or attach necessary duct work to pass air to the outside. Draw out the pattern of all bolt holes on the microwave and then transfer the pattern to the cabinet bottom. When dealing with a recessed cabinet bottom, you can use filler blocks in places where there are microwave bolts.

Drill bolt holes in the cabinet. Drill a hole 1.5 inches in the bottom for the microwave power cord to pass. If everything is level, plug the microwave's power cord into the outlet, and program as necessary.

The installation is complete, you can delight in your new convenient cooking appliance.
